Dental emergencies
Emergency dentist house calls
When to call us
If there is swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, call 911 or go to an emergency room first.
- Toothache that keeps someone from eating or sleeping
- Swelling of the gums, face or jaw
- A broken or cracked tooth, or a lost filling or crown
- A loose crown that needs to be re-cemented
- A broken denture or a sore spot that won't heal
How an emergency visit works
Call us and tell us what's going on. Patients in pain go to the front of our schedule — we try to come within a few days, often sooner. Dr. Nath arrives with a portable X-ray, suction and a full dental setup, finds the cause of the pain, and explains the options in plain English.
Many problems can be treated on the same visit: an extraction, the start of a root canal, a filling, or re-cementing a loose crown. You'll get a written price before any treatment starts.
Emergency fees
The home visit fee is $350 on Long Island and $500 in New York City and Westchester. It covers travel, setup, the exam and X-rays, and you get a written price before any treatment starts.
Common emergency treatments: filling $500, extraction $1,200, root canal $2,000, re-cement a loose crown $300.
We do not participate with any insurance plans. You pay us directly, and we prepare and submit the claim so any reimbursement is paid directly to you.
While you wait
- Rinse gently with warm salt water
- Use a cold compress on the outside of the cheek for swelling
- Take over-the-counter pain medicine as directed, if it's safe for the patient
- Keep any broken pieces of tooth, crown or denture
