How it Works

Video thumbnail: how an in-home dental visit with Dental at Home works on Long Island

A home visit in three steps

  1. Call or request

Call us or request a home visit. Tell us what is going on and who needs care, so we can answer your questions and discuss the next steps.

  2. We confirm the visit, location and fee

We confirm where the visit will take place, arrange a time, and explain the visit fee. Treatment fees are quoted before any work starts — nothing is done without an agreed price.

  3. Care where you’re comfortable

Dr. Nath arrives with portable dental equipment and treats you where you’re comfortable. We work around the patient, explain what we find, and take breaks when needed.

What to expect during the visit

  • You only need a room with electricity.
  • A bed, recliner or wheelchair is fine — we work around you.
  • A typical visit takes 45–90 minutes, depending on your needs.
  • Caregivers and family members are welcome.

How to prepare the room

  • Any room with an electrical outlet and some light works.
  • The patient can stay in a bed, recliner, or wheelchair.
  • Clear a small table or counter nearby if you can.
  • Have a list of medications and any recent medical changes ready.
  • If the patient wears dentures, leave them in.

What a visit looks like

Dr. Nath arrives at the scheduled time, introduces himself, and talks with you and the patient first. He reviews health history and medications, does a gentle exam and any needed X-rays, then explains what he found in plain English. If treatment is needed, you'll get a price before anything is done. Many visits take 45–90 minutes.

Who can be present

Anyone the patient wants — family, an aide, or a nurse. Familiar faces often help, especially with dementia or anxiety. We're happy to show caregivers how to brush, floss, and clean dentures afterward.

Consent, healthcare proxies, and POA

If your loved one can't make decisions on their own, the person named as healthcare proxy or power of attorney can give consent. Please let us know when you call, and have a copy of the document available. If that person can't be there, we can review the plan and get consent by phone before treatment.

After the visit

You receive written aftercare instructions and a direct line to the dentist for follow-up questions.

Ready when you are.

Tell us what's going on. We'll call you back, answer your questions, and give you a clear price.
